16th UNIGIS course in Hungary

The Faculty of Geoinformatics (GEO) at the University of West Hungary (Szekesfehervar) started their 16th UNIGIS distance learning course this past weekend.

The postgraduate UNIGIS programme has proven to be very popular over the last fifteen years. In the 1990ies participants mostly hailed from the discipline of surveying, and included many university teachers. In the last decade the enrolment spectrum became much more diverse, including foresters, geographers, agricultural engineers, information engineers, archaeologists etc. joining the programme.
During these fifteen years close to 250 students graduated and now are successful members of the geospatial industry in Hungary and some of them abroad. More than 10% of the graduates now hold a PhD degree. Many Hungarian university teachers built their careers on a UNIGIS course.
